Step-by-Step Installation
Unlike bolting brackets directly to your crossbars - which consumes valuable cargo space on top of the rack - the Utemaster bracket system uses the exterior framework of the Cantilever Rack. Your crossbars stay completely clear for other gear.
Step 1 - Position the brackets
Locate the engineered hexagonal cutouts running along the side rails of your MK3 or MK4 Cantilever Roof Rack. Position the three Utemaster Awning Mount Brackets along the side rail, aligning them with the hex cutouts to match the mounting channel spacing on the back of your awning.
Step 2 - Secure the brackets to the side rails
Bolt the brackets into place through the side rail hex cutouts. Mounting them hard against the exterior rail positions the awning outside the primary cargo area, keeping your crossbars free.
Step 3 - Mount the awning to the brackets
Lift the awning into position and secure the backing channel to the vertical faces of the three brackets using the hardware supplied by your awning manufacturer.
Step 4 - Check door and tent clearances
Before fully tightening, check that the awning clears your Centurion Canopy's side doors when they are fully open. If you are running a Roof Top Tent, confirm the awning's swing path does not interfere with the tent base or ladder.
Once everything is correctly positioned, torque all fasteners to specification.
