BYD Shark 6 Tub Canopy
Part # CC4-BYDA36
The Utemaster Centurion Canopy (MK4) is a premium aluminium tub canopy custom-engineered for the 2024+ BYD Shark 6. Unlike generic flat-pack alternatives, every Centurion is purpose-built to match your BYD Shark 6's body lines, smooth radius corners, hidden rivets, and contours that look like they came from the factory.
Built with Strong Bones, the Centurion bolts directly to your tub's factory load points, no drilling required. With a Cantilever Roof Rack fitted, it carries 200kg dynamic and 600kg static, making it roof tent ready straight out of the box.
- Bandit Proof Locks: No exposed key barrels. The handle breaks away under force, your gear stays locked.
- Full Width Doors: The largest side doors on the market for unobstructed tub access.
- Monsoon Proof: World-class rain channels seal every door opening. Arrive at camp with dry gear.
- Utemaster Design Stamp: Custom-engineered to suit the BYD Shark 6, not a generic fit.
- 5-Year Warranty: We guarantee our quality. If it's not right, we'll make it right. No questions asked.

Frequently Asked Questions
-
With the Utemaster Cantilever Roof Rack fitted, the Centurion Canopy has a 200kg dynamic load rating (while driving) and a 600kg static load rating (parked). The Cantilever Rack is what makes this possible - it distributes weight evenly across the canopy structure and down into the tub's factory load points. Without the rack, do not load the roof.
-
The Centurion Canopy weighs 60kg. The Cantilever Roof Rack adds 17kg, and the Roller to suit the Cantilever Rack adds a further 3kg. Total weight for a fully kitted setup is 80kg.
-
The Centurion Canopy starts from $8,692 + GST for the base canopy. Adding the Cantilever Roof Rack brings the total to approximately $9,900 + GST. For a full tradie or lifestyle setup with shelving, central locking, or a roof top tent mount, use the Ute Builder to get a live configuration price.
-
Installation uses the tub's factory mounting points, so no drilling is required. Without central locking, most installs take 30 to 60 minutes. Adding central locking integration adds another 30 to 60 minutes. Full fitting instructions and a video walkthrough are available at the top of this page.
-
The Centurion Canopy is constructed from aluminium. Aluminium gives it a higher load rating, better resistance to forced entry, and greater longevity than fibreglass alternatives. It won't crack, fade, or degrade over time the way fibreglass can.
-
The Centurion Canopy is compatible with under-rail liners only. It is not compatible with over-rail liners. If you have an over-rail liner fitted, it will need to be removed before installation.
-
Yes. Standard crossbars and roof platforms can be fitted to the canopy roof using the T-Track accessory for the Centurion Canopy. However, standard racks have lower load ratings than the Utemaster Cantilever Rack. Always check the crossbar load rating before loading.
-
Like the inside of a vehicle, the canopy will warm up when parked in direct sun. A Dog Vent Kit helps air circulate through the canopy and is lockable, so your gear stays secure. Fridges work well inside the Centurion Canopy - it is one of the most common setups our customers run.
One customer said "I went camping on Fraser in summer for 7 days straight mate and my fridge was faultless. Not a warm beer in sight -
The canopy itself is fully sealed with automotive-grade weather seal around the entire door perimeter, sealed hinges, and monsoon-proof rain channels. Note that utes have small gaps in the tailgate where dust can enter the tub independently of the canopy. Adding a Tailgate Seal Kit closes those gaps and ensures the entire tub stays dust-free.
-
The Centurion Canopy is compatible with a wide range of accessories including the Cantilever Roof Rack, Roller, Dog Vent Kit, Tailgate Seal Kit, lighting systems, electrical mounting systems, shelving, drawers, rear view cameras, and ratchet straps. Use the Ute Builder to configure your setup or browse the ranger under accessories.
-
No. Windows in a ute canopy are not a Warrant of Fitness requirement in Australia or New Zealand.
-
Yes. The Centurion Canopy is a registered design. Design Registration number: 201917368.
-
Aluminium outperforms fibreglass across the metrics that matter most for a working or adventure ute. The Centurion Canopy has a 200kg dynamic load rating versus typically 80 to 100kg for fibreglass canopies. Aluminium is harder to force entry through, holds its resale value better, and won't crack or fade with UV exposure. It costs more upfront, but over a 5 to 10 year ownership period it is the lower-cost option.
-
Yes. With the Utemaster Cantilever Roof Rack fitted, the canopy supports a 600kg static load rating - well above the weight of any roof top tent on the market. The Cantilever Rack is engineered specifically to distribute that load evenly across the canopy and tub structure. Do not mount a roof top tent directly to the canopy roof without the rack.
-
A canopy gives you a fully enclosed, lockable storage area - ideal if you're carrying a lot of gear and need secure dry storage. If you're running an electrical system, it gives you a lot more room to mount your electrical gear.
A hard lid is a solid choice if you want a lower-profile setup. For serious off-road use: a canopy raises your vehicle's overall height, which lifts your centre of gravity. If you're doing technical 4WDing, a hard lid keeps things lower and more planted.
Both are quality options - it comes down to how you use your ute.
